Pros
virtual first environment where you can work anywhere in the US from home. Benefits are great - when you get to use them
Cons
Where to begin..... Paycor pushes this "fake positivity" down your throat. They love to pride themselves on their guiding principals however; management fails to meet most of them. Including taking care of each other. The CEO and higher management host conferences where you'll be invited to attend and, they do their best to pump you up for all these changes at Paycor for the clients but, fail to address anything within the teams. They send out a "survey" on their work environment, benefits, managers etc.. but nothing changes. Management has no clue what is going on and, they are truly out of touch with their teams daily reality. They talk about your benefits - especially your pto but, what they dont tell you is that you will never have enough time offered to use all of your pto and, what you dont use you dont get to roll over into the next year. There are never enough hours available to allow everyone to use their earned time and, 3/4 months out of the year are blacked out and you cannot take pto. If you bring this up to your manager like what are you supposed to do they will put a fake positive twist on it how you should be grateful to even have pto to use. Not really validating or addressing the fact that you will lose whatever time you did not take. Training leaves a lot to be desired and dont be surprised if you are tossed into a quick class to learn an entirely new service and immediately thrown into that phone queue. From there your manager will expect you to perform like an advocate who has been there for years. You may get hired as Payroll but, you can expect to be shown HR or TIME for 6 hours and dumped into the phone queue for now on. So double the work, zero actual useful training, no help and, unrealistic expectations. Paycor has a very noticeable clique vibe and, if you are not apart of that club dont expect to ever be promoted, move positions or do anything else within Paycor. Managers play favorites and, what is fine for their favorite is not fine for you at all. While they will overlook something for their fav dont expect that for yourself if you are not apart of the in crowd here. You can go above and beyond here and, you still wont move up if you are not apart of the clique vibe. You can be totally rocking at your new position and, killing your metrics and still not be thrown into the promotion bucket all because you are not apart of that "in" crowd. The phone queue is mad somedays and, at times, there will be clients who hold for 5 to 6 hours who are super mad when you finally get on the phone. Paycor is totally fine with this and, will flat out tell you that their phone queue will push the bigger spending clients ahead in the phone queue leaving the little guys at the very end. Come year end time this just sets those of us on the phone for failure as no one wants to wait for hours to talk to anyone. You will take calls all day and, be expected to resolve everything within 1 call. If you have to follow up you will be 30 minutes twice a week to work on cases and, during year end, you dont even get this. The minute you step out of queue to work on anything your manager will reach out to tell you to go back on queue. It is not uncommon for advocates to have 20 to 30 cases sitting out there at a time because there is no time to work on anything. And best of luck reaching out for assistance because youll be made to feel stupid because you didnt know the answer and talked down to by the senior advocates. Management knows this goes on because they screen record everything and, they dont care. Paycor just spent anywhere between 5 million and 10 million on naming rights for the Cincinnati Bengals Stadium and, yet our wages are laughable. New hires will make several dollars more than you starting out and, Paycor doesnt care. Keep in mind you may have been there though the pandemic and that insanity - yet you will make several dollars less than people who just started. Management is aware and instead of addressing it, they will send you a letter telling you all of the wonderful benefits including adding social security as a retirement benefit to you. Yup, they will list the employer contribution as a social security benefit to you personally. Not sure how this is considered a benefit but, this is how they justified a meaningless merit increase that does not even cover inflation or the wage gap between you and the class that just started. When you bring this up to your manager telling them how disrespectful this feels you will then be told to keep working hard and going above and beyond. Really just not even addressing it at all. Paycor continues to say that "we remain competitive in the market for wages and benefits" yet most of us just want to make the same as the class that is just starting. And lastly, enjoy your "mandatory" overtime AKA forced overtime come November, December and January. You will be required to work overtime with no regard to your work schedule, home life or anything else you have going on. In fact, they will not even ask you if you want to do overtime or, what days work best for you. They will just schedule you and you will be expected to show up . If you do not you will be deemed as someone who is not a team player and will be attendance points. Rack enough up of those and on a performance plan you go! Fun right?? All in all... if you enjoy being over worked, underpaid and disrespected Paycor may be for you! They are literally always hiring!
