Pros

The employees here are very kind! Even if you work from home, you’ll still be connected in a way to your team, as well as the cohort you’re placed int. The company sends out nice merch for new hires Depending on who your manager is, many will put you as a human first, and understand how overwhelming this job can be.

Cons

Gives employees days off, but WILL deny you many of those hours. Don’t give us PTO if you’re just going to deny it. Training was not the best. Six weeks of my life felt wasted because we only learned what we were supposed to do on the floor within two. Their training program focuses mostly on cross training. Internal communication is used via zoom, while questions needed during a call by your fellow colleagues are answered via TEAMS. May seem effective, but ineffective when you can’t get fast response times and you’re on a call with a client not knowing what to do. The pay given for a sales advocate is $22 an hour. When you get into training, you’ll be wondering why we’re not being paid at least $30. There is a 9 month learning curve. The six weeks of training are basically useless because clients will ask question about things you have NEVER heard about, and you’ll sit on the phone sounding very unintelligent. Your nerves will be gone within one work day. Nesting is not useful when it takes 5-10 minutes for a response from your own internal team leads.

Paycor Response

We are so happy to see you noted the connection you feel between your coworkers and team, this is something we strive for at Paycor! We also appreciate your feedback and please rest assured it has been shared with the team. Since your review we have added rollover for our PTO benefit and feel that this will help alleviate some of your concerns. We have also taken a look at our training program as well as surveyed all customer advocates after completing their training to make changes accordingly. Lastly, our compensation analysists have taken a look at pay scales on a national level and find that we are very much in line or above average. We now offer merit increases as well as multiple job family promotions throughout the year, we encourage you to reach out to your direct supervisor for more information!

Pros

Remote-first company, flexible hours, very realistic/understanding that human beings work here, not automatons.

Cons

I have none. Honestly. Happiest I've been as an employee in any job I've ever had.

Pros

Paycheck hits on time every two weeks.

Cons

I wanted to like working at Paycor. The product has potential and the pitch during the interview process sounded promising. But the reality of day-to-day life here is a far cry from what's advertised. Micromanagement is rampant. Leadership tracks every minute of your day — from login times to bathroom breaks — yet somehow trusts no one to make even the smallest decision independently. You're treated like a number, not a professional. There's zero autonomy, and any attempt to take initiative is quickly shut down. The leadership team is deeply out of touch. Many managers got their roles through tenure, not merit, and it shows. They struggle to answer basic questions about the industry, lean on buzzwords in meetings, and consistently make decisions that anyone with relevant experience would know to avoid. When things go wrong, blame rolls downhill fast. The culture is toxic and cliquey. If you're not in the right social circle, advancement is nearly impossible. Favoritism is blatant, feedback is rarely constructive, and the "open door policy" is a joke — speak up and you'll find yourself quietly pushed out. The work environment doesn't help either. High turnover means institutional knowledge constantly walks out the door. Morale is low, burnout is high, and HR seems more interested in protecting the company than the employees.
