Pros
In reality the company does provide good benefits for its employees, including dental care and helping you out with a bit of your college tuition. However, does theses pros really out weight the cons....
Cons
My advice do not work ever for this company, specially not as a sales associate, you'll be treated like a grunt in the army. Simply a no body, a replaceable fool that has to do the dirty work because the people in the top are more worry about the shareholders money and their own jobs then taking intelligent risk for the greater good. The pressure amass with making your conversion, u.p.t and your sales is excruciating. By the way for those that have no idea what is a conversion and u.p.t; conversion is like percentage of transactions that have being made over the number of customer that come into the store while the u.p.t is basically the number of units sold per transaction. By the way listen to this, your u.p.t has to be above 2.0 which means that you have to strive to get everyone to buy at least 2 items even if they don't want to even if that means lying about the quality of a product. Well one might say that's not bad, on the other hand if a customer returns a item that lowers your u.p.t. So let say the whole day you work your butt off to get that u.p.t up there into the above average point and then a customer comes in and returns six items, well there goes your u.p.t and your certainly to here it from your superiors the next day. Oh, and let me not forget the conversion, get this, the conversion is measured by a ringing belt in the front door that rings every time someone goes near it thus meaning that every time it rings twice it counts a customer. OK that is not bad right, wrong, if during the day you get some miss behaved children that are enamored with the idea of playing close to the door because it rings and the parents are not willing to do nothing about it even after you have asked, guess what "there goes your conversion for the day". Once again your sure to here it from your superior the next day, and don't be a fool to defend yourself or it will just be taken as a cheap excuse or insubordination. To finish off this long essay i have ended up writing, which does not surprises me since i can go on forever with the negatives of this company, the pressure the store managers has to go through is rather cruel. The company is constantly having to cut the payrolls so if there is a lot of task to be done the manager has to find a way even without the payroll and must of the time well all the time the store associates have to pay for it. Oh and let me not forget there is a audit every three months and the store has to be nearly perfect for those audit that means the even though there is no payroll the associates and the manager have to get everything done even if it means staying up all night in the store before the audit to get everything in tip tap shape (trust me i did). And let me not forget that ostensibly it is a self service company yet we have to do everything for the customer. So please do yourself a favor go work in foot locker or something like that and don't make the same mistake many of us have made.
