Pros
The discount is great and once a month you can use a "Fashion First" discount, which is 50% off one item. The people I work with are great, but there are issues with the manager at the branch I currently work at. I was employed at another store before I transferred to my current location and I absolutely loved it there: the manager was great and I looked forward to going to work.
Cons
The customers can get really snooty and annoyed if you're constantly in their face, but Payless has something called the "Customer Journey" which is a step by step process of what you have to do with the customer (greet, explain promotion, show a shoe, suggest try on, compliment, suggest to look elsewhere, suggest additional items like socks, purses, and other accessories) and if your manager is a stickler about it like mine, it can be a huge pain. Also, there's a huge emphasis on your "numbers" (conversion percentage, upts, return percentage, etc) and if you don't have good numbers for the week, don't expect a lot of hours.
