Pros

The casual work environment and offsite meetings are pretty cool. And it's Monday thru Friday, no weekends!

Cons

It is an extremely stressful job and there is not a lot of support. The training is a basic overview of the system and the actual payroll questions are not easy. I feel like there should more in depth training or they should look for people that have a degree or extensive experience in payroll. We're dealing with people's payrolls and most of the time we're just guessing as to what should be done. You can ask 3 different people the same question and get 3 different answers. The majority of the clients were over promised during the sales step and there are many problems coming out of implementation. The account managers pay for those two things and clients love to escalate all the way up to the Steve's. That is not a good feeling when you are doing everything you can to help. You have an assigned client list and one account manager can have over 200 clients. The majority of clients prefer email, but you are required to stay available in the phone queue 80% of the time. it is impossible to reach that number while trying to keep up with the emails. Most items require research and that cannot be done when you are constantly being interrupted by the phone. Project time is assigned, but usually for 30 minutes at a time. That is not enough time when you have an inbox full of issues to be resolved. It's just a matter of time before the escalations start coming in. You leave every day feeling defeated and stupid.

Paylocity Response

First, thank you for the feedback. We constantly work to improve our culture and our employee experience. We have added an additional 3 weeks of training providing our employees around 9 weeks of initial training to learn not only the products but to spend time shadowing our more tenured employees. We actually went into this year-end overstaffed, and responded to our employee needs by increasing our headcount all around! Paylocity and Client Services are not for everyone. The work is demanding and our clients have very high expectations! We work hard to paint a very realistic picture of the job during our phone screen and your interview is with multiple managers and members of the team to help answer any questions. We are committed to doing everything possible to continue to make Paylocity the great place it is!!

Pros

Work remote. Fantastic leaders, Definitely a place I have enjoyed working.

Cons

Pay is slightly less than competitors but work life balance and culture make up for it.

Pros

There used to be many. By the time I left all of the pros had been phased out. The only pro was allowing some people to stay remote- but if you wanted to advance in your career you would be forced back in office.

Cons

Low pay. Micromanaging. Hiring leadership from outside Paylocity and even outside of the industry. Major and extreme departmental changes rapidly. Change is a part of business but in six months my role became unrecognizable. I was there for five years and had planned to be there for much longer. This last year was terrible. Low communication from all leadership. Higher and higher expectations of employees with no bonuses or pay raises to accommodate. My regional director was forcing people out and speaking badly about employees regularly.
