Pros

First of all, they are not a bank. Pen Air is a local, non profit organization that specializes in financial products and services. The benefits are top notch, and I have full coverage Florida Blue health care that costs me nothing out of pocket. They provide a massive 7% 401K match to my retirement plan, and also allow for a generous PTO (paid time off) allowance. They are actively seeking to promote from within, and ensure that everyone in the credit union has the opportunity to apply for positions around the company. It is truly one of the best places in Pensacola to work!

Cons

A strong majority of the staff has a negative outlook on the company. Yes, there are changes, yes there are new colors, but that does not impact the fact that at the end of the day we have a community to impact. Members of our community need to buy houses, cars, and some need help managing their finances and getting out of debt. The new products and processes being rolled out streamlines that. Some are not going to like it, but if optimizing the way we impact the community is viewed as a downfall, then maybe Pen Air is not the career home for them.

Pros

Credit union as a whole tries to create a good work environment, Benefits are good and 401k match was 8%

Cons

Extremely poor pay for amount of responsibility and risk. Most other departments had pay bands widened but ours stayed the same. Constant fighting between management in collections department. Extremely unprofessional upper management with continuous bullying of supervisors. Large Overlap between supervisors and managers duties with poor delegation of tasks between them. Huge difference in roles for individual contributors that are all the same pay grade. Extremely poor performers are not held accountable, some are terminated but others continue to create large amounts of extra work for others. The amount of workplace drama that is allowed is appalling and is caused by 2-3 employees that contribute little to nothing to the department. 4-5 employees went to hr about these issues and management immediately retaliated against this, everyone was automatically in trouble for something or another. Hr agreed with absolutely everything I brought up, but there was little that could be done without escalating this higher within hr. It really seemed like nothing would change. I left voluntarily and relocated out of state.
