Pros

Company has good benefits, matches 401k pretty well, health incentives for insurance discounts, participates in Healthy Lives program (opportunity for cash bonus yearly). Overall branches are well maintained, corporate staff friendly, systems for branch use pretty easy to use. Went through re-branding while I was there so it was a time for a lot of changes, as we also had recently got a new President. I enjoyed the people I worked with most. They do let you apply for other open position after a set time, but you have to have your manager sign off on it (I have seen that put a target on some peoples back). Pen Air was still overall, better than other banks I have worked for in the past.

Cons

Branches are often short staffed, you are pushed to be crossed trained, push sales and opportunities to provide members products, but you are not compensated for doing multiple jobs. Financial institution pay is pretty awful anywhere when you are on the front-line. Getting time off could be difficult at times depending on the branch and number of staff. The branches seem to have a very high turn over rate, as it is an entry level position.

Pros

Credit union as a whole tries to create a good work environment, Benefits are good and 401k match was 8%

Cons

Extremely poor pay for amount of responsibility and risk. Most other departments had pay bands widened but ours stayed the same. Constant fighting between management in collections department. Extremely unprofessional upper management with continuous bullying of supervisors. Large Overlap between supervisors and managers duties with poor delegation of tasks between them. Huge difference in roles for individual contributors that are all the same pay grade. Extremely poor performers are not held accountable, some are terminated but others continue to create large amounts of extra work for others. The amount of workplace drama that is allowed is appalling and is caused by 2-3 employees that contribute little to nothing to the department. 4-5 employees went to hr about these issues and management immediately retaliated against this, everyone was automatically in trouble for something or another. Hr agreed with absolutely everything I brought up, but there was little that could be done without escalating this higher within hr. It really seemed like nothing would change. I left voluntarily and relocated out of state.
