Pros

Great insurance and retirement benefits, great tuition discount for employees, spouses, and dependents, interesting work, flexible scheduling, and a great environment for learning!

Cons

Bad management can tend to thrive in this environment because the University is very willing to work with someone or reassign them rather than firing someone. In one unit where I worked, a manager with a lot of complaints was reassigned and then after a few years, reinstated back to management where the same problems arose. Luckily, once you have a job with the University, it is easy to transfer out of a unit with bad management to another with better management.

Pros

Decent Benefits, Nice Amounts of Time off

Cons

Staff are the lowest of the totem pole and you KNOW it. Pay not enough to live by yourself as a working adult in State College Area. Will waste your time if there's nothing to do by requiring you to sit there while faculty and admin get to "work from home" (they really don't) President Benepudi will probably give herself 2 more $1.5 million pay increases while you work there unable to afford a simple apartment by yourself.
