Pros

The benefits at Peraton are great.

Cons

Training is a HUGE ongoing issue for Peraton and I don’t see a fix in the near future. If you don’t have previous government contracting experience I would not make Peraton your first Company. If you should not make it due to their rushed process of training, your likelihood in a government contracting position afterward is greatly affected negatively as other companies expect you to have been properly trained. Prior to taking my position, I read the several reviews on the lack of training. I went in with eyes wide open and dedicated myself fully as this was a career move for me. I was surprised when I started as the training ‘seemed’ thorough. However, there are a lot of down sides that you don’t notice and like myself I was out of work months after being on my own. Don’t resign thinking you would be able to reapply and go through training again as they will pass you up for another inexperienced person to put through the program all over again instead of you. Despite all of this Peraton is a great company if you can hack it. I’m greatly disappointed in my experience. My advice: Prioritize the government certifications first before you leave for Colorado. Get your credentials asap, you need one of them to be sponsored so make sure that’s done before you do the in person CO training. With the certifications behind you, you can do your 12 hour day with less stress and it WILL be stressful. Take notes and stay after class to ask about the job training course questions you have every day. Thats literally your job training so make sure you understand it. Keep those notes and go over them with your local investigator. The last part of the training should be YOU doing the job and the local investigator shadowing your mistakes. If you pass this, then you start on your own. Schedule, schedule, schedule and good luck!

Cons

My experience with Peraton’s hiring process was deeply disappointing and, unfortunately, reflected very poor communication practices. I received an offer in October for a position supporting a newly awarded FAA contract supporting their new Air Traffic Control System and was initially told that I would receive a start date in December. When December arrived, I was informed that the timeline had shifted to January. This same message continued each month, with repeated assurances that the position was still moving forward and that I simply needed to remain patient. Over the course of nearly six months, I completed all requested pre-employment steps, including the background check, and made multiple attempts to obtain meaningful updates through email. Most of those requests were met with little to no response, and the limited communication I did receive provided no real clarity beyond another delayed timeline. After being consistently led to believe the role was still active, I was ultimately contacted and informed that my offer had been rescinded due to changing business needs. While I understand that contracts and staffing requirements can change, waiting six months with minimal transparency only to have the offer withdrawn is unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of respect for candidates’ time and career planning. I was very excited about this next phase of my career, as well as the opportunity to support this new contract. But after this ordeal, I quite frankly do not recommend anyone to seek employment here.
