Pros

Campus is nice. Dogs are nice. People I work with are nice

Cons

Work-life balance does not exist here! Some departments enter at 9 and leave at 4:30, but if you are in private brand, you can forget it. We have worked too hard and, if you try to tell management, they simply say "I need you to do more with less" or some other line that HR has given them. There is no responsibility and many blame others. They even force meetings where we have to go in and explain / apologize to our co-workers if we fall behind. It's not about work together to fix a problem, it's about having the vice president look down on us and the partners try to avoid guilt because they all are afraid around the VP. There is CONSTANT changes that happens in strategy, priorities, work and expectations that cause problems in the timeline and nobody says anything because the fears the VP, while adding tons of extra work . If you like ownership of your work and recognition, go to different company, because EVERY decision you make will go through several layers of people and will be question or even mocked by the vice president. This is not a pleasant environment to work with, and the occasional "party" does not really help corporate morale.

Pros

- Wonderful people under the Sr. Director level - Dogs in the office - Brand name carries weight on your resume

Cons

- Sr. Directors and above are largely nepotism hires rather than merit-based promotions - Leadership team is toxic and disrespectful, and that tone trickles down to other senior leaders - Gender favoritism shows up repeatedly, with women being asked to pick up the work of men without additional pay. Or men being promoted over women due to favoritism and not merit. - Nearly every employee I worked with was disengaged and functioning out of fear of layoffs rather than job satisfaction (layoffs happen multiple times a year) - The company's declining position also makes it harder to land your next role, since a recent Petco title now reads as coming from a struggling brand
