Pros

Its a job. I'm lucky I work under good management and the salon I work in is one of the best design salon built. We also have a prebook system that some air head thought was a good idea but has proven to fail. I do like the people I work with, even though we have NO TOWELS for the clients dogs, we do have SMALL RAGS the size of a wash cloth to dry the clients dogs but a rag better than nothing. We are a new store which also makes it nice work in.

Cons

I'd like to know when Petco puts out coupons for dog food etc. is the coupon deducted from the cashier wages? If not. Then why is the coupons deducted from the groomers wages. The groomers aren't just grooming, there retreiving carts, doing carry outs, cleaning bathrooms, driving to the vets office across town.Groomers get the lowest pay. Coupons are deducted out of the groomers wages, The public is under the impression that Petco is giving them the discount unknowings to the public that their discount is being deducted from the groomer wages. A multi million dollar business is taking away what hard wages the groomers work for.

Pros

- Wonderful people under the Sr. Director level - Dogs in the office - Brand name carries weight on your resume

Cons

- Sr. Directors and above are largely nepotism hires rather than merit-based promotions - Leadership team is toxic and disrespectful, and that tone trickles down to other senior leaders - Gender favoritism shows up repeatedly, with women being asked to pick up the work of men without additional pay. Or men being promoted over women due to favoritism and not merit. - Nearly every employee I worked with was disengaged and functioning out of fear of layoffs rather than job satisfaction (layoffs happen multiple times a year) - The company's declining position also makes it harder to land your next role, since a recent Petco title now reads as coming from a struggling brand
