Was terminated after three weeks of training. My manager said I "lacked ambition." I asked what that meant exactly and if examples of my performance could be provided to support this. My request was met with head shakes and sorrys. I explained that I wasn't trying to contest her/their decision, but that I was likely going to move on to another hospital gig, and understandably don't want to make the same mistake twice. The most I got was "we don't think you're a good fit." Up until then I had never been taken aside by a superior for anything nor criticized for anything. I couldn't give up my badge right then and there because I needed it to return the hospital-provided scrubs, clock out, and exit the employee parking lot. The employee waiting for me down the hall from the locker room looked at me like I was a trespasser after I handed her my badge. I had to press the emergency button to exit the parking lot. The security guard didn't even say "ok" or "have a nice day" after I told him I was just fired and didn't have a badge anymore. Perhaps my predicament is a routine event?
