Pros
For a youth job, the pay is decent. I worked in the NYC spirit/seaport location. Pay started at $9/hr. You can move up through small raises. Supervisor seems to be the glass ceiling. The associate pool is very large, so there is a lot of availability to work the shifts you want. The cruises are fun! I'd recommend this for a college student who is not dependent on growth/ and or a paycheck.
Cons
The managers dont seem very involved with sales floor etiquette. I rarely saw a manager until I was returning back from my cruise shifts.I was consistently on shift with associates who came to work drunk, high, etc. Promotions were based on popularity. From what I observed promotions were based on how "cool" you were with the managers. Managers would get drunk with associates, and in some cases do drugs with associates. Some of this happened inside the office on 23rd. Theft was a serious issue (it is in most retail). It will continue as it is led by those in charge. Slow seasons are difficult if your rent depends on a decent pay check.
