Pros

History of patient care at Piedmont Hospital goes back over a century; since the founding times, generations of physicians, nurses and support staff worked hard to turn Piedmont Hospital into the top private medical center in Atlanta, where patients would be seen by the best doctors in their specialties, and received the best care whether they are treated in the clinic or in the hospital.

Cons

Things changed when the new Piedmont Healthcare top leadership (under Tim Stack) decided that the best way to load up their big wallets is getting more revenue (more patients to pay), which means buying more hospitals and physician practices. While they say that the integration process brings more choices to patients, in fact, the opposite is true. These patients are now locked into the same system, if they want to keep their doctors. There's a reason whenever something like this happens, it has to be cleared by the anti-trust laws. Another little-known secret to getting more revenue is to coach the surgeons and physicians to come up with (not-so-honest) documentation that would justifies the highest insurance reimbursement.
