Pros

Working microwave in the employee back room closet. They have old chairs you can sit down in. You get the chance of walking around the store. You can get tipped, however it is very rarely.

Cons

My experience working at Piggly Wiggly was unfortunately very negative, primarily due to poor management during the night shift. I found the nighttime manager to be unprofessional and unsupportive toward employees. One major issue was scheduling. I submitted time-off requests well in advance, yet I was still scheduled on days I had clearly requested off. Employees were also generally limited to short 4–6 hour shifts, making it very difficult to earn full-time hours or maintain financial stability. Another concern was the work environment. While assisting customers, I was often interrupted and reassigned to unrelated tasks such as cleaning bathrooms or sweeping the store. This created an atmosphere where customer service and employee morale did not seem to be valued. Some of the other employees think they are entitled, and there was a couple of times where I almost got into it with another bagger because I wasn't doing what they do, or something ridiculous such as stepping in a wet mop spot

Pros

Will work with your availability.

Cons

Does not pay any more than $8 an hour (will be $7.38 an hour after social security & Medicare taxes and they don’t do raises). Rude customers. Two (sometimes three) carts full of groceries on food stamp days. Almost no maintenance done to the store (still have outdated registers running the point of sale version of Windows 7). Toilet paper dispensers in the bathrooms are broken and haven’t been replaced in over two months. Training is almost nonexistent. The cashiers actually got more training than I did. Does not do any employee, veterans, or senior citizen discounts. Food is too expensive so I’m not able to afford to shop there. I have to shop elsewhere (Food Lion & Dollar General) just to be able to afford to eat.
