Pros

-Protected Saturdays are real (sometimes pressured to work them) -Good deal flow, dependent on MD (some are on the total opposite of spectrum) -You can achieve good WLB if you know what you're doing

Cons

-Pretty socialist bonus bands (Top vs. bottom bucket is almost incomparable, have never seen people get credit in terms of early promote/bonus for going above and beyond) -Same as any other bank, top performers are grinded out and staffed to capacity -Bottom performers are cut a lot of slack, especially if they have MBA

Pros

It's nearly impossible to get fired. After many years, the IT department has hired a diverse team. Coworkers were intelligent and ethical.

Cons

Unusual that, until after Covid, the IT department was about 95% Caucasian, but now the diversity seems to be due to the ability to lower salaries, and worsen work/life balance. Management will only promote yes-people, or hire from the outside. It's akin to working in IT in 1990s, there is little process or structure. Laptops weren't given to IT until after Covid (yes you read that right), and when they were handed out, they were the used laptops from revenue generating departments that had been upgraded. It was a very chaotic environment.
