Pros

Residents, hourly employees, the grounds

Cons

The residents at Piper Shores and the hourly employees are truly the only good things about the place. As a previous manager, I had to sit by while my hard working and caring employees were treated terribly by both human resources and my direct supervisor because despite my position and role, my boss had some kind of pull I wasn't privy to, allowing inhumane and unethical treatment of my reports. Upper level management is unwilling to do the right thing when it comes to putting senior level management in their place, singling out hourly employees and management due to their personal feelings about them. Human resources refuses to stand up and do what is right for hourly employees while constantly rewarding a team of senior management who have become so complacent in their roles that they are ineffective. The employees and residents suffer due to this, yet senior management is allowed to stay in their positions, contributing absolutely nothing to the company, while collecting a hefty paycheck and bonus. All of this while their subordinates are given minimal raises and no opportunity for development. There is absolutely no appreciation shown to any employees by their managers or human resources, and if you dare cross anyone in the senior leadership group, even **especially** if you are trying to do the right thing in the face of something you see that you believe to be WRONG, you are immediately black balled and poked and prodded to the point of resignation so that they don't have to pay your unemployment benefits. If "C" level management would step up and eliminate the cancers in the senior leadership team, Piper Shores would be a wonderful place for the residents and employees alike. Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to be something that will happen anytime in the near future. There are a few really wonderful people in management but their efforts are quickly dismissed by their peers and superiors who see any kind of change or perceived "questioning of authority" as a threat to the "good 'ol boy's club" that is Piper Shores. There has been an increasingly high rate of turnover at the facility for years, and just over the past month, half of the leadership team and two of the best senior leadership members have left, with the company never considering the toxic work environment the cause of the mass exodus. If you are a person who has integrity and is looking for a place where you will be supported and appreciated, this is not the place for you.
