Cons
1. Poor management
- The department supervisor refused to fire an employee who stated he wanted to "f#ck the attitude out of her" about female co-worker.
- Again refused to fire and actively defended the same man stating that he was a "good worker" after he s#xually harassed, & borderline stalked another female co-worker by deliberately seeking her outside of work, touched her inappropriately (witnessed by several others and visible on the warehouse cameras), & texting her inappropriately in the work messaging app.
2. You almost never know what you are doing the next week since the dept. supervisor only releases the schedules 1-2 days out, and sometimes the schedules get changed randomly at 5 or 6 in the morning.
- You never know what time you will be done, which makes it extremely difficult to go about life, & schedule appointments.
- The department supervisor and admin failed to verify DOT medical certificates, which is a requirement.
3. The Traffic Control Coordinator (TCC) admitted that he frequently works while intoxicated.
- Allows his DOT ground hands & flaggers to show up under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, and potentially more serious controlled drugs like cocaine.
- TCC also has allowed for what he referred to as "shadow ops", where he would have improper work zones that went against the states requirements for DOT operations and/or the requirements our permits, which resulted in dangerous conditions
- not properly distancing, number of signs, or using the incorrect signage for drivers to slow for flaggers and the lineman working.
- having flaggers place or collect signs without a crash truck.
- having flaggers and linemen on the road when the permit states we are not allowed to be due to high-volume/high-speed traffic.
- keeping flaggers on the road past the time limit defined in the work permits.
4. Co-workers are hit or miss, some are great, others cant do basic job requirements like driving, or understanding basic directions.
Most will talk poorly about you and your co-workers, its just a matter of if they will say it to your face or only in private.
5. Poor communication and training, several times people would fail to use radios correctly while flagging, which resulted in near misses with on-coming traffic and or the crews, as well as several people who didn't know how to flag correctly and would misdirect traffic.
5. No set end time, the lineman decides when you're done.
