Pros

Excellent research facilities, awesome library.

Cons

Mediocre salary. Promotions were rare and not based on merit. Employees related to higherups and employees who were part of a buddy system were promoted. I joined Polaroid with a MS degree and 4 years of experience. Two women (fresh grads.) who joined 2 years later were promoted after 2 years without any significance achievements. One of them was related to her supervisor. Whenever I asked for promotion I was told 1) that the company was not expanding 2) I cannot promote you till I get promoted- a supervisor told this to me. Behind my back he was actively trying to get another female assistant promoted. He was not successful. She had joined 2 years after I had joined Polaroid. After 7 years I was transferred to another group. My new supervisor told me - you are new to the group. You have not been tested yet. So we cannot promote you now.

Pros

You'll never be bored, but it's because you'll be doing 3 jobs.

Cons

-You'll be painfully underpaid and they'll tell you you're making what you deserve. -You'll be expected to take on more work than you feasibly can, and if you complain about it, they'll give you a warning on your file -You won't receive promised compensation -They can't keep higher ups - 5 CEO's in as many years -There is absolutely no reporting structure. -If you're not down for forced socialization, you won't succeed.
