You better not get sick - Service Desk Analyst Pomeroy Technologies Employee Review

Pros

There are none now, as far as I'm concerned

Cons

They have NO sick leave. You get 16 days of paid time off, but must request to use it 14 days in advance. If you get sick, you can use some of your time off with pay; but it will be an unexcused absence (unless you apply for, and get approved for, some sort of leave). After 3 unexcused absences in a rolling twelve-month period, you are subject to discipline (same holds true for more than 4 tardies). Training is virtually non-existent. Have not had a pay increase since starting on July 27, 2016. Nor have I had any type of review. If you critique any of their processes, you are "unprofessional" and may be disciplined. Guidance from Level 2 members is inconsistent and contradictory. Morale on the team has been destroyed. The saddest thing about Pomeroy is that it was not like this when I first started with them. But a change in management has brought changes (and NOT the good kind)

Thank you for writing your review. PTO covers any time an employee needs paid time off work, for any situation (injury, illness, vacation), while on an approved day off. Of course, we don’t expect you to predict an illness 14 days in advance. PTO CAN be(& often is), used for sick days. An additional step is needed if an employee is absent 3 or more days in a row. In this case, the employee should reach out to Pomeroy HR and apply for a leave. To maintain a productive work environment, all employees are expected to be reliable and punctual in reporting for scheduled work, as absenteeism and tardiness place a burden on other employees and on Pomeroy. Excellent attendance is an expectation of all employees of Pomeroy. Daily attendance is especially important for hourly employees whose customers and coworkers have the expectation of on-time service delivery. These expectations are discussed in the interview process and during orientation. They are also outlined in our Employee Reference Guide, which employees sign indicating that they understand the expectations.

Pros

Pomeroy has proven a place to develop a career for those who are ambitious, value autonomy, and take initiative to make a difference.

Cons

Pomeroy is a fast paced environment and moves quickly - some may find this decisiveness and desire for change not for them.

Pros

The people are truly the best part of working at Pomeroy. I had the opportunity to work with some amazing coworkers and leaders who genuinely care about one another. The work-life balance is also a real positive, especially compared to many companies in the industry. It’s also telling that many employees have long tenure, and it’s not uncommon to see people leave and eventually come back, which says a lot about the culture and the relationships people build there.

Cons

One of the biggest frustrations is that there have been a lot of promises made over the years that never seem to materialize. A 401(k) company match has been discussed for well over four years, but it still hasn’t been implemented. Leadership has also communicated plans for company-wide merit increases, yet there hasn’t been an across-the-board increase since 2023.
