Company has little reputation, Sales are cut-throat for Outside Business Developers - Outside Business Developer Pomeroy Technologies Employee Review

Pros

Easy hiring process, straightforward training, if you are mildly intelligent, the IT world isn't hard to grasp. They invest in getting you well-known certifications in the IT world. Management tries to keep the sales people abreast of company activities via meetings and weekly calls. All major holidays are paid and vacation accrues 2 weeks/yr.

Cons

OEM partners don't want to work with you unless you have identified a lead already. Corporate support teams and channel partner teams are NOT speedy with returning calls or inquiries. As an outside sales rep, prepare to smile and dial your day away. Most prospects don't know who pomeroy is, and they are not well known unless you have a job at the corporate location. You make about 100 calls a week, management keeps a strong eye on all your calls and sales activities. Getting opportunities are very difficult although management says to 'keep pushing' and have a can-do attitude. Sales cycles are long and tedious, support teams often create errors in the process which angers clients. Salary was mediocre, health benefits were almost non-existant ($5000 deductible before the cover anything)

Pomeroy has proven a place to develop a career for those who are ambitious, value autonomy, and take initiative to make a difference.

Cons

Pomeroy is a fast paced environment and moves quickly - some may find this decisiveness and desire for change not for them.

Pros

The people are truly the best part of working at Pomeroy. I had the opportunity to work with some amazing coworkers and leaders who genuinely care about one another. The work-life balance is also a real positive, especially compared to many companies in the industry. It’s also telling that many employees have long tenure, and it’s not uncommon to see people leave and eventually come back, which says a lot about the culture and the relationships people build there.

Cons

One of the biggest frustrations is that there have been a lot of promises made over the years that never seem to materialize. A 401(k) company match has been discussed for well over four years, but it still hasn’t been implemented. Leadership has also communicated plans for company-wide merit increases, yet there hasn’t been an across-the-board increase since 2023.
