In reality, your managers, whom you need support from the most, are not. The company has many employees that will reach out and help you if you know how to find them. In this specific Burlingame office on the payroll team, it is very unorganized and the managers do not actually manage. You are left to fend for yourself and they do not care if you sink or swim. You can manage many accounts and feel like you are drowning and even ask for help. But their response will not be an answer, it will be a question. They will ask that you read long pages of SOP's before even asking them anything. They will expect you to cut your lunches short to attend pointless meetings. They will also expect you to perform like a superstar with inadequate training not even provided by them. The managers will have you under the impression that you are performing well, when in fact they are writing a performance plan as they are speaking to you. You will be expected to work from home if you are sick. You can only be off if you are on your death bed. But you will have to find coverage though. If something is to be escalated, even those higher up will make you feel like you are nothing and do not care that you had been reaching out for help and did not receive it. They will only listen to the manager that is not helping you in the first place.
