High value on diversity and inclusion

Cons

PSU is not well funded, and tends to be top heavy (more high paid upper level management and many fewer staff than other universities of comparable size). As a result, staff are vastly underpaid, and when positions are vacated, they are not filled. Instead, the remaining staff are given extra work, without extra compensation.

Pros

Fantastic colleagues, excellent organizational mission, amazing benefits (esp. health).

Cons

Morale is currently (2026) low because of ongoing fiscal crisis and job cuts. Organization is highly bureaucratic, left hand often doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Woke politics can get out of hand.
