Pros

Decent salary compared to banks Rapport built with customers Holiday entitlement

Cons

Where do I begin... When I started working at p.o I was given a few hours with a colleague who had handed in their notice. Obviously didn't explain everything in great detail. Lots of gaps in knowledge that needed filling in. Yet within a month I had to sell, sell and sell some more. Without any in depth knowledge on the products . Its very tough for me and my colleagues to focus on the job in hand while also trying to think about what products we can push on a customer who are mostly elderly and vulnerable. Our working conditions are poor with constant manipulation from our manager trying to change our hours and get us to do o/t that she normally forgets to pay us for. We're very understaffed and if o/t is not agreed on then it can leave less than 2 people on counter in a busy town centre office. The poor person we have on the self service machine has to force people queuing up to use the machines which are not user friendly. Since working at the post office I've gone from beeing happy and carefree to being diagnosed with depression by a gp. Anyone thinking of working for this establishment I would strongly advise to reconsider unless you have extremely thick skin.
