PW Power Systems embodies "small company" appeal while being part of a large corporation. - Staff Engineer Pratt & Whitney Employee Review

Pros

Everyone is very professional, mannered, knowledgeable, and focused on teamwork. There is very little internal politics here relative to the much larger Pratt & Whitney. As a small organization with plenty of work to be done, everyone is focused on the job and less so on personal advantage at the expense of co-workers. Probably one of the best group of people I've ever worked with during my career.

Cons

PWPS was a standalone division, but was brought "inside" into Pratt & Whitney ("Big Pratt") once they started turning a profit. Consequently, they inherited all of Pratt & Whitney's substantial policies & procedures, which dampened the "small company" feel of the division. Note that this division would have rated very high in all categories had it not been for a specific non-engineering manager whose apparent lack of interpersonal and teamwork skills unfortunately resulted in very high turnover of his direct reports.

Pros

Great Benefits. Competitive compensation. Recognizes hard work. Engagement events.

Cons

Too politically correct. Need straight forward feed back instead of don't want to make things awkward conversations. Big corporate obstacles to getting work done.
