Pros

Premera has a lot of genuine warm people, with a great deal of industry knowledge. The atmosphere is collegial and for the most part pleasant.

Cons

Leadership is very driven by a "Bro" culture. Leadership's political affiliations are no secret, and a lot of business decisions are driven by their worldview. The understanding of current technology and tools amongst leadership is laughably old school. Being tone deaf to modern communications doesn't help (a recent post telling people to post positive reviews on this site bears this out)

Premera Blue Cross Response

You're right, Premera employees are great people with vast industry knowledge. It's those same knowledgeable people that are working hard to continuously improve Premera's technology and infrastructure. Decisions made on a national scale have real impacts on Premera's business, employees, and members. It is Premera's responsibility to field and respond to those changes to do what is right for our customers and employees. Open communication on Premera's vision and direction is shared internally as well as in public forums. Recently an article was published on Premera's intranet bringing awareness to Glassdoor, how that impacts us as an employer, and encouraging participation in this important channel. Current and former employees have shared a variety of perspectives regarding life at Premera. These reviews give prospective employees an authentic glimpse at what it's currently like to work for Premera. The conversation regarding social media (including Glassdoor) is an important one and we will continue to share more with employees in the future.

Pros

Remote job Good pay Decent Benefits

Cons

Overbearing, toxic management who don't really care about you as a person and your health, it's all about getting those numbers, I'm guessing that is how they receive their bonuses. People on the "team" who are not nurses makes you question why they needed some that were RN's. Unclear goal, unsure what it is that this position actually does for their members. Micromanagement.
