Pros

Overtime is always available. Schedule is typically for full-time is 4.5 days off, 2.5 days of work.

Cons

Terrible communication between team, team leaders, and supervisors. Breaks required by law are rarely given, resulting in you working 16 straight hours. Little to no sleep during residential (overnight) shifts. ZERO training on procedures (paper work, case notes, transporting youth, etc). Schedule can permanently change without your authorization or notification. The sales pitch by staff made the job seem better than what it really is. Understaffed, little support from MTCs (supervisors), inconsistency with adherence to policy and procedure, and the clients (troubled teenagers) are there not to work on bettering themselves but solely because of a court order and agreed to terms so they don't go to higher level detentions.

Flexible scheduling and work-life balance, and my coworkers are amazing.

Cons

I'd like to see additional merit raises or bonuses for doing excellent work.

Pros

Some programs have fantastic culture, they hire/promote from within (room for growth), Ohio director is super hands on, stipends for school and overall pretty good benefits

Cons

Your experience here is very dependent on what program you work for- some supervisors and team leads create a collaborative and great work atmosphere, while others are retaliatory, create a culture of favoritism, and set you up to fail. Do what you can to speak with team members from whatever team you're applying for before you sign on to make sure you're not signing on with the latter type of supervisor. HR will protect the supervisor if you complain.
