Pros

The pay was decent. I enjoyed working with most of the people. Discounted Wireless plans.

Cons

Zero training. I had a regional director inform me that he didn't believe in training. "Once you get the job you should know how to do the job". The pay plan changes month to month. A huge emphasis is being placed on accessory sales, but the accessories the send you are lackluster. If you aren't selling an iphone your case selection is going to be extremely limited. Not huge on ethical sales. I lost count of the number of times I was instructed to have my staff lie to customers to improve Top Tier data sales or PRPO numbers. Along with reporting 2 separate stores for theft or fraud and watching those employees not only stay with the company But move up the management ranks. Impossible to get home office to respond to you. If I had an issue I would have to call/email numerous times and eventually get my District manager or Regional Director involved to get it resolved. The IT department can be a challenge to deal with. I'm not sure how reliable this is, but my District Manager informed me that Prime outsources all the IT work to Pakistan. Promotions are often decided before anyone else is made aware that an opening for that position is available. Terrible work life balance. Conference calls on days off, I had mandatory conference calls during vacation time. Constant texts about lack of involvement on group me even on days off.

Pros

Solid day-to-day leadership experience with your team, you own the coaching and scheduling and get real reps developing people. Genuine autonomy in how you manage your employees day-to-day. Commission offers earning upside when the month breaks your way, and running a small store means a close team and a wide range of responsibilities that build a broad skill set.

Cons

Almost no real store-level autonomy, nearly everything runs through your DM, and you can't modify or change how the store operates on your own call. You don't control hiring or training; your input is limited to scheduling and coaching. You have authority over your team in every respect except the one that matters most, firing, because the DM prioritizes tenure over performance, since headcount tenure feeds his commission. And the commission structure is the real problem: it's so hypersensitive that virtually everything impacts your payout, which makes earnings feel unpredictable and outside your control no matter how well you actually manage.
