Great coworkers, stagnant wages - Associate Director Princeton University Employee Review

Pros

- Many offices throughout campus have smart and engaged people - Some departments offer reasonable work/life balance - The medical benefits are solid, (IVF and adoption coverage recently added) - Excellent vacation, 5 weeks per year plus 14 sick days and 2 personal days - Great opportunities for intellectual and cultural engagement, such as campus lectures, concerts, etc.

Cons

- The cost of living (housing especially) in the area keeps going up but the salaries do not, at least not enough. - Lack of support for childcare - subsidies cut off too low but the cost of childcare in the area is too high for most, and the university run daycare is only affordable for the highest paid faculty. - Opportunities for promotion within the university are limited and hard to navigate, with some exceptions - Becoming LESS flexible about work from home options, even when students aren't on campus.
