Typical cons of a small, rapidly growing agency (some growing pains, lack of infrastructure of larger holding companies). But not horrible. :)

The people at the company are the best part of this company. There are a lot of wonderful, wildly creative and kind people who work here. They really try with their remote company culture and you can see it but it’s not quite there yet. You never run out of things to do because they run on the lean side, but I think that’s good and keeps everyday interesting.

The disconnect in remote company culture is difficult to navigate and felt like you were annoying people just to try and push culture initiatives forward which became quickly discouraging. I was dealing with 2 deaths in the family plus my husbands hospitalization and was having difficulty ramping up and while they were compassionate at first, it only goes so far when they are a busy company and things need to move quickly. Not entirely their fault, but an actual conversation could have happened before letting somebody go out of the blue. Losing my job with no explanation, but that we could talk about it on a later date, two days before my little cousins funeral was brutal. Almost everyone seems to be afraid of HR too. I couldn’t send someone a Slack message or schedule a call without them being afraid of getting fired, which was an interesting thing to navigate and emphasized an issue with retention. Employees wouldn’t be afraid of HR like that if people weren’t getting let go out of blue. Management doesn’t really like to have the hard conversations even when the situation calls for it, but they are working on that with training, so that should improve for the future. People mean well here but things just get a bit lost sometimes and miscommunications happen.
