Pros
When I started working for Progressive back in 2018 I really enjoyed my job in CRM Services. It felt like they really cared about me as an employee and had some comradery with my peers, even after I moved to working from home. I felt great because I really believed there was a path for me to move forward in my career. My coach at the time had convinced me to become 'Blended' (Sales & Services) and get my license because "it would open up your path much wider" to other positions in the company, so I did it. Keep in mind, this was a lateral move, so no pay increase.
Cons
After I moved Blended, I was put into a group where we were trained on Agency services and sales as well, where most Blended reps did not have this responsibility. My team ended up doing 3x the work with no pay increase and way more stress but weren't told about it. It wasn't until COVID hit and I was forced into the position that I am in now that I became truly unhappy with the company. Progressive took a group of Blended reps and told them that they had to help on a contingency team and service CPT (Customer Preservation Team) and they would give us an extra $1/hr. We battled extremely tough calls, me and most of the people I've spoken to didn't come out of it without some type of trauma. Then, at the end when they no longer needed us (1.5 years), they said we could keep the $1 and move into CPT permanently or lose the $1 and go back to the previous position. Well, I kept the $1 because I couldn't afford to lose any amount of pay, especially during a pandemic. When I transitioned into the position, I found out I had basically been doing the position of CPT without the title unknowingly and never got paid for it or recognized for it. All of these things basically led to a huge HR battle which ended negatively for me. The point is-- Progressive will dangle the proverbial carrot in front of you to get you to take whatever they are offering. They flash their "benefits" at you to make you look the other way and forget the negative, when in fact, they're really not that great. Health? As long as you enjoy paying a ton of money out of your paycheck to health insurance you may never use it because you have no copay. Vacation? It'll add up as long as you never use it... but you probably will have to use it frequently because they force change your schedule every 6 months. Schedule accommodations? Never approved when you need it most. To be fair, not all of Progressive is bad, and not everyone that works there is either. I think they feed the wheel of corporate culture and are just answering to shareholders. Pretty standard for a giant company, but not as 'Progressive' as they might make themselves out to be.
