Pros

Proofpoint is doing incredibly well at a time when the tech industry is generally bleeding out. Good benefits and package at the point of signing up.

Cons

Employee experience is terrible. In the current software job market it's a great place to work. 5+ years ago it would be considered horrible and you would be laughed at for tolerating it when other companies trip over each other to treat their talent better. And it sucks that the company seems to bank on the fact that the market is to individuals' disadvantage at the moment. Bad management is tolerated and even encouraged due to a lack of top-down strategy. Working at Proofpoint is miserable and I contemplate resigning on a daily basis.

Pros

fairly lax with lots of time to do things

Cons

many. Former CEO ran things poorly and took in managers who brought along their problems and animosities with them. Not only that, they were allowed to invite their friends to come and join too, many of them owing their jobs to someone creating a bro culture. Even though top mgmt changed since the sale, its many of these people still there to this day. Most of the systems were a black box, existing engineers were mostly uncooperative to keep their knowledge to themselves, the offshore engineers in one particular country were especially bad for this. I have seen major accomplishments achieved by someone, where so many others had failed, only to get fired soon after.
