Pros

If you're up for change, Protiviti can be an exciting place to work because you never know where you will find your niche. You may end up in a specific industry or service line you never imagined would be fulfilling.

Cons

Because everybody's path is different, it is very hard to compare employees. As a result, managers are forced to have monthly meetings to discuss consultants and seniors and how they can be scheduled based on specific skill sets. While this is a necessary evil of the industry, it creates the "Halo/Horn" effect where consultants and seniors are constantly judged. This creates an environment where promotions are self-fulfilling prophesies and some consultants will never be given an opportunity to succeed.

Pros

Good Culture, decent pay, not overworked too much.

Cons

Repetitive, meaningless, and boring work, hard to pivot out of this career once started. Also, the consulting career feels like such a fake job at times. Doesn't feel like real work. Makes you question your life decisions. I'd recommend any college grads to think about their future career goals first before joining. I joined on a whim and wish I spent more time interviewing. It's been incredibly difficult to pivot out of internal audit and sox compliance once you are in it. However, if you are really good at corporate politics and advocating for yourself you may be able to pivot out of the IAFA solution . However, not sure how that lends it self if you want to leave the company.
