Where do I begin?
-As many others have mentioned, this company does not do "consulting," or "management consulting" to be more precise. This is an internal audit/SOX shop where you operate as a "consultant" (i.e. glorified contractor) at large firms that don't want to hire people full time to do the mind numbing work you'll end up doing. They'll lie to you during the interview process and claim otherwise, but do not fall for it. Protiviti is the IA shop companies hire when they can't afford the Big Four.
-No training is provided beyond the most junior level. Since I was hired at the Senior Consultant level (into the Risk & Compliance group mind you - told I would never do audits), I was provided with no training. I was then tasked with leading an audit, with absolutely zero background or training. Despite my repeated requests for training/guidance, I received none. This is unethical and unfair both to the client and me.
-Speaking of unethical, HR constantly bothers you to fill out positive reviews on Glassdoor and countless surveys that appear in trade magazines no one reads. I would not at all be surprised if HR itself is tasked with writing fake positive reviews on Glassdoor. Have you noticed how similar so many of the positive reviews are?
-This might be commonplace in "consulting," but Protiviti wins work first, then figures out staffing later. This might seem like a fine approach, until you bid on and win (likely by selling for cheap), and then realizing you don't have qualified people to do the actual work.
