Pros

Relocation opportunities, cool people that you work with.

Cons

Don't pay high enough for the work you do. You have to drive A LOT, prepare to be in traffic sometimes 4 hours a day because the clients aren't in San Francisco. You aren't a consultant, you most likely are just going to work on SOX Audits

Thank you for taking the time to post this review. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed working with the team in the Bay Area. I agree there are fantastic opportunities to relocate domestically and even internationally, both on a temporary and permanent basis. I am however sorry to read that you felt under remunerated for the work you did. Protiviti partners with a global consulting organization to ensure that we are aligned with our competitors at local market levels, for each of our career levels and solution offerings. For Consultants who join the Company from campus, we also collect and receive a lot of data through the campus hiring process. What is certainly true is that the market in the Bay Area is 'hot' and moving constantly. We are confident that our 'offer' (taking into account the total compensation package offered), is very competitive in the market for similar positions. This equally applies to experienced level positions. As a Bay Area practice, we do support clients across the Bay Area. This includes San Francisco, South Bay, East Bay and North Bay clients. We aim to provide a clear and consistent message regarding the location of our clients during the hiring process. We also have an office in San Jose to support the South Bay clients. Our intention is to do the best we can to limit individual commute times, through our resource management processes. I also acknowledge your comment regarding the nature of work. In the Bay Area, we have a good diversity of work across our technology, risk and internal audit services. This includes SOX work, which maybe higher than other markets given the IPO activity in the Bay Area. Our aim to provide every Consultant who joins the Bay Area team with exciting and challenging work experiences that provide them with the skills necessary to be a successful consultant as they build their career long term in Protiviti.

Pros

Good WLB Great Bosses Health insurance & benefits are awesome Very flexible workforce Easy to climb up in promotions

Cons

Pay is below standard (Although I feel you still get paid decently for the area) If you're put on a production project, be ready to feel stuck. Management is very lost on where they want to head into the future. I am worried this company won't last much longer (Former arthur anderson) Can feel clique-y at times amongst peers (but this is not a problem of the company specifically)

Pros

1) Chicago office has a good culture, overall. It’s not perfect but most of the people are great. 2) Work-life balance score has been solid (about 5+ years of insights here) 3) Although it was not great this year, Incentive compensation has overall been pretty good over the course of 5+ years. Much better than big 4 in my experience.

Cons

1) Since 2023, the culture hasn’t been great for a variety of reasons (mainly due to sluggish performance and growing too fast) 2) It feels more like a temporary staffing agency versus a consulting firm for a lot of the time. 3) There has been an awkward push for a return to the office and more business development focus that is in stark contrast to what most Protiviti people value. 4) Most people I talk to say they are not motivated by most of the MDs they interact with (this is significant in my opinion).
