-These reviews do not reflect reality. I've heard through the grapevine that there has been some pressure for people to write positive reviews. Every single person I know at Protiviti is unhappy and considering leaving. The New York office has particularly high turnover, and I've heard the situation is similar at other offices.
-Why the high turnover. Protiviti is not, I repeat not, a consulting firm in the sense that most people understand consulting. It's an internal audit firm that masquerades as a consultancy. Even the "glamor" risk and compliance projects (the only arm of the firm that borders true consulting) are approached from an Auditor's standpoint.
-There is no training for experienced hires, and the way Protiviti staffs is borderline unethical. They will place experienced hires with zero background or training in Audit on an audit project and expect them to just "figure it out."
-Speaking of staffing - you are just a warm body. You will be thrown on whatever project they need you on, regardless of your background, skill set, future goals, travel preferences, etc. It might work out well for you, but it oftentimes doesn't.
-Promotions are basically a popularity contest. Your chargeability is a far second to how well you suck up to your superiors and how many worthless internal initiatives you're part of.
-Protiviti basically just undercuts the Big Four on price and that's how they get the lion's share of their business. Caution to those considering coming here from the Big Four: your hours might be better but the caliber of everything is significantly lower.
