Pros
They offer a reasonable 401k program and decent benefits.
Cons
I worked for this company as a resident property manager. I was provided an apartment that was never maintained by facilities and I along with other employees, constantly had the apartment thrown in my face if sales numbers didn't meet their outlandish quota. My apartment never had carpets or floors replaced prior to moving in and were disgusting. I was promised they would replace them shortly after moving in, they never did.. they do not feel they should follow simple housing codes. Management loves to take advantage of people who are unknowledgable of their rights as a tenant or an employee. The pay is not competitive to other storage locations within the area. You are expected to wear too many hats and manage multiple stores due to short staffing. Management belittled you and used scare tactics to push sales numbers. They hired unlicensed companies to complete maintenance work. While living onsite they did a "property of tomorrow" upgrade in the office that was connected to my apartment and put me in a temporary box with the door facing the gate. I was told this was only to last a week, maybe 2. Everytime I stepped outside of the office I risked getting hit by a car. They did not hire a contractor that was properly licensed to be completing the work required and did not pull permits. When I voiced my fear of the office catching fire due to the overloaded and outdated electrical panel, facilities told me "you're there to rent storage units". I then realized they did not care about my safety, my family's or my customer's safety.. I was left in the temp office for over 6 months due to a complaint being filed with the city because no permits were pulled. Mind you, I was pregnant through the entire experience. I quit 2 weeks after returning from maternity leave. They do not care about safety or security for their employees, let alone their customers. I had threats made against me my customers because of immoral business practices that we were forced to enforce! I never felt safe the entire time I worked there. You give up all of your privacy when you live on site. The training sucks. You are sent out knowing very little and they hire irresponsible kids. When you go to management about other employees you are told to just deal with it and expected to clean up after the relief managers' mistakes. There is a lot of favoritism. Through the years I witnessed other employees steal, come to work under the influence, verbally assault others and management does nothing about it.. even when it's been reported to HR it all gets swept under the rug and you are labeled as "trouble" for doing your dudiligence to report the issues as you are told to do through the code of conduct you sign every year. Do not work for this company unless you want to be treated like scum every day. The pay is not worth any of the crap situations you will have to endure. I promise the "free apartment" they will dangle over your head is never worth the mental anguish you will endure every day and the lack of privacy. You will have people banging on your kid's bedroom window in the middle of the night because they're above following simple rules like access hours and feel entitled to being served at every dying moment. You'll miss out on time with your kids and family because you're forced to work most major holidays. You will not be provided with the bare necessities to complete your day to day job then asked why a, b or c is not completed. You'll be treated like you're stupid every day you clock in.
