Pros

-Publix offers great benefits for employees. -The group of people I worked with at my store were awesome. -I was able to realize that becoming a pharmacist is not my career of choice. -The ability to gain both knowledge and skills that I previously did not have.

Cons

-Never was given enough technician hours or additional help. I constantly felt that I needed to choose between patient safety or completing all that tasks for the day to please corporate; I chose patient safety every time. -No room for growth unless you get your PharmD degree. -Open pharmacy (when counting pills we often got interrupted by customers). -Angry & Needy customers, constantly!! It is retail, so what do you expect?! -Corporate wouldn't listen when we requested needing more help behind the counter. -I worked over 33 hours each week and never got promoted to full time; when half of the time I was already working a full time schedule. -They could do a better job of being environmentally friendly. -Hard to get time off because only a couple of technicians work in each store. -Compensation is not great for pharmacy technicians in general.

Pros

Good compensation including not just standard pay, but also end of year bonus 80 hours for hourly associates, 8% of your annual earnings granted to you in free company stock thru which quarterly dividends are paid, ok 401k, and gift card and other associate coupons. Good stability and growth. Good company culture.

Cons

Can be slow and resistant to change. Uses some antiquated systems and software that should have been replaced years ago. Does some things that don't make sense. Some managers can be good, while others not very good. Although these cons may be true for a lot of companies. All roads eventually lead to Lakeland where they are headquartered. Geography can be a big one if you are not a Florida native. If you don't want to live in Florida for some legitimate reasons, there can be limited job options in other states, especially if you aren't interested in retail or warehouse jobs. Standard retail negatives about not having a lot of holidays off.
