Pros

Hmmm that's a tough one. I guess the only pro is that I have a job and a couple dollars in stock so by the time I'm 90 I can probably buy a car. I have met a lot of great coworkers who are truly why people think Publix is a great company. Nope it's not the company who greedily over charges you by 80% for everything you buy or the CEO and district managers who make over 3 figures a year laughing all the way to the bank that make it great. No it's us little people the worker bees who make it great even when we're not treated great paid great and we don't feel great we're a bunch of awesome people with big hearts who enjoy helping our customers. Its the great cashier's, deli workers, pharmacist and techs, our stock crew, meat cutters, baggers who help you to your car, our seafood specialist, our dairy and produce workers , bakery clerks and cake decorators, our janitors ect. I love the people I work with not the company I work for.

Cons

I did make good money but with the major rise in everything recently Publix hasn't went up a cent on our wages but all other grocery stores have but they love to brag about the $4 billion they made through working us to the bone in an unsafe environment risking our lives during the pandemic and we got a whole 25¢ raise for pandemic pay for the entire year yippy. Plus them not letting employees with cancer or other serious health issues wear masks because it ,"scared the customers" and we're told if they wore one they needed to clock out and go home it was their choice if they wanted to keep their job. Oh that's until employees started dying then we got cute masks with the Publix logo because it was cheaper than the lawsuits they were facing. Now that's a company who truly cares about their associates don't you think. If you love micromanaged slave labor where the customers are entitled to treat you horrible and belittle you or even hit you with a buggy and it's oked by management and you'll definitely be punished even if it's not your fault then this is the place for you. All you hear day in and day out from us worker bees who make this company as great as it is , is how miserable, over worked, under paid, and under valued they feel and how awful the customers treat them. George Jenkins is tossing in his grave and they should just take him off the walls and and not even associate him with the company anymore because when he died so did his dedication to us and his mission statement " the little people are who make the company great" these higher ups don't even look us in the face their robots who read from a script and they look down at us like we're beneath them and who dont deserve the petty wages they give us while they make over 3 figures a year with company cars, luxury homes, company paid extravagant lunches, dinner's and hotel stays meanwhile most their employees are at poverty level, some homeless ( I am now) and most go hungry even at work where they throw millions of dollars of food in the trash, they couldn't tell you one thing about our products or customers or pretty much anything about the inner workings of the stores. They don't know their head from a hole in the wall but they can sure brag and tell you the money that's rolling in for them (not us) and expect you to stand there with a smile on your face and act like you're excited about it meanwhile you can barely pay rent or feed your kids with the scraps you make. And if you have medical issues tread lightly because they rather not have you there and will find a way to get you out or make you leave plus the insurance is a joke even my Dr said",it's sad but Publix doesn't even take care of their own people " The health insurance will fight you tooth and nail to try and not cover critical medications or tests that your life depends on. We are nothing since George Jenkins passed away. We are nothing more than our personel number P1234567 to them now. Sadly his vision has been long lost but greed and mistreating good people will be there ultimate demise trust me. My advice don't believe the bull about this being the greatest place to work there are way better companies but if you do decide to go work here because trust me they are desperate for people these days it won't take you long to see exactly what I'm talking about especially if you're a woman because we're even further in the bottom of that barrel but that's a whole nother chapter. Good luck

Pros

Good compensation including not just standard pay, but also end of year bonus 80 hours for hourly associates, 8% of your annual earnings granted to you in free company stock thru which quarterly dividends are paid, ok 401k, and gift card and other associate coupons. Good stability and growth. Good company culture.

Cons

Can be slow and resistant to change. Uses some antiquated systems and software that should have been replaced years ago. Does some things that don't make sense. Some managers can be good, while others not very good. Although these cons may be true for a lot of companies. All roads eventually lead to Lakeland where they are headquartered. Geography can be a big one if you are not a Florida native. If you don't want to live in Florida for some legitimate reasons, there can be limited job options in other states, especially if you aren't interested in retail or warehouse jobs. Standard retail negatives about not having a lot of holidays off.
