People who perform poorly are rewarded the same exact percentage increase in annual pay as those who perform very well. There's zero recourse for poor performance. Simultaneously, if you're an over-achiever or work extremely hard and produce good results for the company, you're not rewarded; you're given more work and expected to continue performing at the same level. High-level leadership does often blandly thank employees, but it's fairly disingenuous. Especially when they get major bonuses/pay increases each year, while employees doing the actual work get next to nothing because we can't reach our corporate goals. Middle management is fairly useless and clearly does not understand what their direct reports do every day. They provide bandaid solutions to major organizational issues, which ultimately create more problems long-term. Middle management simply agrees with their leadership to make themselves look/sound good, often changing their tune at random based on leadership's direction. I could literally do my job just as well as I do now if I my supervisor and their manager did not exist. They provide no leadership, no context and no substantial contributions to the company. They simply "guide" and cheerlead and placate. Middle management offers kudos/thanks to struggling employees in front of leadership, in order to convince them to stay at PSE, rather than thanking/rewarding the people who actually make an effort. PSE also tends to promote (and pay more to) people who simply have more years of experience, even if they're proven to be lazy or sexist/racist.
