Cons
TOXIC. Purchase's "think wide open" motto is merely a ploy to attract people to its campus. It claims it supports and celebrates diversity. But, while the students are big on supporting the LGBT community, the college overall struggles with diversity. There is a persistent culture of racism and sexism on campus. We have a failed Diversity/Title IX office that for years has not addressed incidents of bias and sexual assaults on our campus. It took a massive lawsuit for the college to care for our students with disabilities. Our multicultural center has been closed for 3 years. People were hopeful with the new President. But, she has not demonstrated any changes or leadership qualities. She continues to let the same ol' players rule. For example, the students protested racism on campus last week. In a town hall to address the concerns, the President was silent! Our leadership tends to gaslight its students, faculty, and staff. They are very defensive and lack accountability. If you like your sanity and believe in ethics, AVOID!
