Pros
The life in west lafayette is very peaceful. And Purdue University is a very good Engineering university. The Electrical and Computer Engineering, where I worked as a research assistant, has a lot of cuting-edge engineering research. It's very interesting and we could also learn a lot of engineering skills and develop the ability to solve complicated engineering problem.
Cons
The work load is large as for an Phd student. If you want to have good research results, you probably should work 50+ hours per week and additionally you will take class at the same time.
