Pros
You get to help people, various ways to grow professional development, other counselors work together.
Cons
Lack of job training, care logic needs to go away and replaced with a better system. Counselors wear too many hats; bill collectors, case managers, even medical tasks like pill counts. It’s salary and there’s no way you can get things done in under 60 hrs a week. There isn’t any security, billing will send bills and late notices to people who have already paid. There isn’t a receptionist/office manager onsite at all times so, counselors also have that role. If you make someone mad at the top, no matter how good of a counselor you are. You will be terminated. You get thrown into the job, no training for the job, possibility of going to multiple offices, no holidays and management won’t take responsibility for their lack of training and patients words will be taken over yours. Even after an unfounded investigation it will be held against you.
