Pros

The cafeteria was nice to eat at

Cons

Upper management created an unstable working condition. High turn over rates. Everyone was your friend until it came to money, then it was every man for them selves. There is a toxic culture there of upper management lying to keep the workers content, no follow through on promises. You are a number. Management protected their own even with abuse of power. Production coverups and lying to customers was prevalent. Layoffs and mandatory over time wrecked people's work life balance. Place should unionize but upper management has a playbook to keep that from happening.

Pros

Working at Quanex has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my professional journey. As a Plant Manager, I’ve experienced firsthand what it means to be part of a company that genuinely values its people — not just in words, but in action. What I love most: Competitive Salary & Benefits: The compensation package is not just fair — it’s generous. Between the strong base salary and comprehensive benefits (healthcare, PTO, 401k match, etc.), I feel both appreciated and secure. Leadership That Listens: The leadership team fosters a culture of trust and transparency. They’re engaged, supportive, and they actually listen. Ideas are welcomed, feedback is encouraged, and growth is nurtured. Real Opportunities for Advancement: Quanex is the kind of place where hard work, initiative, and a strong sense of ownership are truly rewarded. If you want to grow your career, you won’t find yourself hitting a ceiling here. Meaningful Work: Every day I get to lead a team, improve processes, and make a measurable impact on production, safety, and quality. There’s a real sense of purpose in what we do. If you’re looking for a company where you can build a career, grow as a leader, and be part of a culture that values people as much as performance, Quanex is that place. I’m proud to be part of it.

Cons

Things move fast — but that’s part of the excitement and growth. High expectations — which push you to bring your best every day. Lots of collaboration — great if you enjoy teamwork (which I do).

Pros

Work life balance. As long as you are communicating with your supervisor, working effectively and efficiently you can go far and be promoted quickly. You can choose from 4 10 hour shifts Monday-Thursday 5am-3:30pm/3:30pm-2am, or 3 12 hour shifts Friday-Sunday 5am-5:30pm. I had never worked in the manufacturing business and I'm still here liking it. They celebrate birthdays, recognize safety, and retirements.

Cons

You have to be able to work in a warehouse that can be either very cold in the winter or unbearably warm in the summer. It is intense labor work.
