Pros

The pay is competitive and there are many classes and programs in place to grow in your career. Also, management have plans to improve the system.

Cons

If you are coming from the mainland, there is definitely a shock of how old the facilities and buildings are here. There are still glass shutters windows from the 90's and very outdated things like sinks, refrigerators are appallingly old. Employee Parking is definitely frustrating. Parking permits for on-campus and off-site parking is $110, which can be deducted through payroll. However, there is no on campus employee parking unless you are a director or higher and the wait-list is 16 years now (no kidding). You can also get a monthly bus pass for $70, but Queen's will subsidize $20 so you end up paying $50. The off-site parking is definitely frustrating because I have to park on the 7th-10th floor and takes forever and then walk maybe 3-4 blocks to get to my office. There are shuttles that you can wait for at the off-site parking, but they take so long that it's actually faster to just walk. Sometimes, I would wait for more than 30 mins. Parking is a luxury at Queen's and although my commute is only 2-3 miles, it takes me 45 mins to 1 hour to get to work.

Pros

They are working hard to get back to pre-pandemic strength. Benefits are good.

Cons

Management is top heavy. They are too many at the at the top with priorities that do not align with one another making it difficult to know the direction of the organization.
