Pros

Quicken is a nice place to work. It is a smaller company that treats its employees well and tries to maintain a positive atmosphere. It can be a lot of fun and you don't feel like you are just an anonymous cog in the machine. The structure is pretty flat, so there's not a lot of middle managers trying to justify their jobs with weird initiatives (That happened a lot at the larger company I worked for before). A few highlights: Excellent benefits package, much better than a lot of larger companies. Senior leadership is likely to know your name. Excellent at getting you the tools you need. Was ready and responsive to the pandemic. The company goals and direction are clearly communicated. Intelligent input will be listened to. The company is making money and most leadership decisions are well thought out.

Cons

The management is a strange combination of two different groups. One group will say nothing negative about anyone and get upset if you express any negativity. The other group makes a lot of passive-aggressive "jokes" (often about each other), that can make you uncomfortable. Navigating between those two groups can be a challenge. The career paths are not well defined. Moving up is possible, but you are definitely on your own as to how to do it. The core product is one of the oldest pieces of software on the market, so be ready to deal with a lot of legacy code and features, and customers that hate change. The company wants to expand but has trouble finding the specialized talent that it needs. The company is not very diverse. Much of upper management is retirement age, and we seem to lose one to retirement about every three to six months. Since this is a small company, that amount of turnover can be concerning.

Pros

Great flexibility, strong company culture, good benefits

Cons

marketing is chaotic. leadership do not trust mid level employees or each other leading to micro management and interdepartmental bickering. Expectations are high yet there is no space to do things the right way. decisions are often based on who spoke the loudest rather than expertise or quality of ideas. The rest of the company seems better run.
