Pros
Overall: Rhombus is in a great place at the moment. It's growing rapidly leading to lots of opportunities to work on different interesting projects whilst learning the in's and out's of the business. Management: Although my manager, Sungho, has to overlook a large team, he still tries to make the time to meet with people, if requested. He's very open and takes into account any feedback and will listen to the team's problems. Team: Engineering team is full of great people. Office Life: We just moved to the old Ford research building, but it's coming along. We get lunch once a week with unlimited snacks and drinks (courtesy of Costco).
Cons
Given the rapid pace the company is growing, the business side has taken precedent over the internal conditions. OKR's are not set in place yet, so it there's no set roadmap for career trajectory. It is completely dependent on the employee to drive this conversation (which is fine). Every team seems to be very disorganized. More frequent than should, projects pop up that need to be done in a week. This leads to long 12 hour day work weeks that extend over into the weekend. In addition, the CTO will call an all hands meeting for all engineers/data team to attend, scheduled for an hour that will always go into two hours near the end of the day. In reality, the only people that chat are management and the seniors. The pay for an engineer is decent. However, there is no equity so the pay/bonus we do received should be a bit higher. Despite the cons, I am still very content at this company and am planning to be here for a while.
