Pros

Received the covid vaccine before it was widely available, for being a healthcare worker.

Cons

12 hour shifts with a 30 minute "break". The employees who were worth anything were fired or quit because the rest of the employees who still work there, aren't worth anything. I was harassed and subjected to middle school bully behavior by multiple employees, including the direct supervisor on my shift. Management did nothing to resolve the issue, instead they reprimanded and gaslit me for causing a stir. Apparently I wasn't the only one they did this to and even fired another woman experiencing the same harassment from a nurse on her shift. My supervisor was the only person who worked there who was a licensed mental health specialist. If they fired her, the facility would have to close. So she used her position of privilege to take out her disdain for women of my race and age, coupled with another employee that she showed open favoritism to and together they subjected me to ridicule. They made me do petty tasks on shift that they didn't want to do, while they sat in the cubicle gossiping, making snarky comments and glaring at me from across the room. Then had the audacity to claim I never did anything on shift, when I did everything. I'm the one who engaged with the clients and actually cared about them getting proper treatment, while they just sat around doing nothing and mocking me. At one meeting, my on-shift supervisor stood up and screamed at one of the higher ups for the region because the woman said something she didn't like, who just so happened to also be a younger woman the same race as myself. She should have been fired on the spot, yet she wasn't. After 9 months of the abuse and no help, I walked out for the sake of my mental health. I ran into another employee the other day who had also felt like she could speak to and treat me however she wanted while I still worked there. I mysteriously got a calendar invite for a Teams meeting from the facility manager who originally hired me, who wouldn't have let all this happen had she not left towards the end of 2019. Supposedly she was the organizer of the meeting, but she left a few months after I first started at RI. I guess my old bullies thought it would be funny to harass me one last time even after 4 years. I could care less to have to deal with or see any of them ever again.

Pros

Schedule, pay, and most of the teammates are good to work with. Can do what you want if you show up for work or even if you don't. Get to really help someone and have an impact on their life every now and then.

Cons

Bad leadership from the top down. No enforcement of policies and procedures other than the RI way which means almost no one gets turned away no matter how problematic they may be. Employees not held accountable for being late, missing work, not doing there job, etc. No room for advancement that's worth it. Most clients view it as a shelter.
