Pros

- good salary with respect to the job market - lots of support tools and resources for teaching - ok medical benefits

Cons

- ideology of students as "clients" and professors as "customer service providers" seriously affect the stand and respect for faculty - few minority faculty make it throught he system; hiring numbers are up but tenure and retention are low -intense quarter system,...plus some times different course sections (with different course number) are assigned to the same classroom, so the faculty ends up teaching more sections than originally planned
