Pros

Great culture at RIT. Working with students is great. Lots of University spirit. Majority of people are very nice to work with. Lots of professional development opportunities Strong benefit packages Really enjoy it.

Cons

EXTREMELY hard for staff to advance at RIT. Don't assume you can ever move up. Heavy administrative silos cause inefficiencies. Non-exempt employees are significantly undervalued by administration Although many senior hourly employees have graduate degrees, they're often treated as though they aren't smart enough to contribute meaningful ideas. This results in a great deal underutilized suggestions and ideas that could make the Univerity work much smarter. Pay is competitive with the local market, but extremely low for the national market. Unfortunately, RIT is no longer attracting the best people and the best staff they do have are beginning to make efforts to leave.
